Absolve: declare (someone) free from guilt or punishment.
“the pardon absolved them of any crimes”
Personified: (represent (a quality or concept) by a figure in human form.)

Ceded: give up (power or territory).
“in 1874, the islands were ceded to Britain”
Inalienable: not subject to being taken away from or given away by the possessor.
“The shareholders have the inalienable right to dismiss directors”
Circuitously : (of a route or journey) longer than the most direct way.)
“the canal followed a circuitous route”
Contested: Engage in competition to attain (a position of power).
“she declared her intention to contest the presidency”
Despotic: of or typical of a despot; tyrannical.
“a despotic regime”
Conviction: the decision of a judge in a court of law

Assail: a violent attack on.

Cognizance: knowledge or awareness.
